   Songkhla Beach
Songkhla Beach
Songkhla has always been a popular destination for the Thai people. The symbol of the area, the statue of the mermaid, can be found on the beach of Laem Samila. In addition to the beautiful white-sand beaches of the mainland, you can venture out and see the islands of Nu and Maeo.
Location
Laem Samila is a large cove, providing sheltered water. Located in Amphoe Muang in the Songkhla Province, this is a wonderful place for the locals to come and relax.

Highlights
Koh Nu and Koh Maeo: Koh Nu and Koh Maeo are small stone islands off the coast of Laem Samila. The shapes of these islands resemble a rat and a cat, thus their names. From the beach of Laem Samila you can see them.
Laem Son On: If you travel to the north you will reach this harbor. Boats traveling to Songkhla use this as their main harbor. While there are no beaches here, there is a monument of Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udom Sak worth seeing. This is also where you can catch a fairy to the surrounding islands.
Had Chalathat: Had Chalathat is a long beach with a road running to the rear. This pine tree littered beach has a gentle slope into the ocean, making swimming safe for everyone.
Khao Noi: Khao Noi is located opposite Laem Samila. From here, you can take the road to the top of the hill where you will have a view of the entire town of Songkhla.
Khao Tang Kuan: Khao Tang Kuan is near Khao Noi, but even higher up. While you cannot drive here, there is a series of steps on the backside that you can ascend. Up here is a Wihan Daeng Pavilion, built for King Rama V as a place for him to rest. From this perch, you can lookout over the entire area.

How to get there
From Had Yai, take Highway 414 to Songkhla. Drive for thirty kilometers and then turn right onto Kao Seng Road. Continue driving to Chalathat Road and then on to Had Laem Samila. The total distance from Had Yai is thirty-two-kilometers.
