WAT RASSATTADHUM
WAT RASSATTADHUM
Formerly known as Wat Bangchan, this civil temple was built in 1882 on land surrounded by rice fields. It is divided into three sections: Phuttha?wat, where the religious buildings are situated, Sangkhawat, where monks reside, and an area for observing religious practices.
The temple received an award for being an Exemplary Developed Temple in 1973, and in 1993 it was given an Educational Park award by the Department of Religious Affairs for its continuing dedication to the education of the young since the time of its foundation.
Buddhist preaching is held on every Holy Day or wan phra, and sermons are given during the Buddhist Lent period. Its peaceful atmosphere, with shade provided by large trees of various kind make it an ideal place for religious practice.
Luangpor Suriyothai, standing Buddha image holding an alms bowl, was cast in bronze during Rattanakosin period. The image was brought to Wat Rassattadhum from the temple of the Golden Buddha, Wat Trimitwitthayaram.
