PASICHAROEN CANAL TRIP
King Ram, IV ordered this long canal to be dug , and the work paid for from the opium tax. It was given the name Pasicharoen, and was officially opened in 1872 in the reign of King Rama V
A trip by long-tail boat to observe the waterside life and nature along both banks of the canal starts from Bolar Pier, Phraya Ratchamontri Canal. It continues to Bangkeekang Canal to visit Emcharoen Art Centre, then to Wat Taaklun and BangPai Canals.
Visitors can see the orchid farms and canal lifestyle, as well as many vegetable and flower garden Its and even rice fields. Growers follow their traditional custom of using the water from the canal for cultivation, transport, bathing and recreation.
It conveys charm of this old Thai way of life. |
