The Phu Hin Rong Kla Phitsanulok
The Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park
occupies an area that was a communist stronghold
in the late 1960's and early 1970's. What makes this park unique are Lan Hin Taek and Lan Hin Poom; two fissures created by the shifting of the Earth's crust. The weather in the park is cool all year-round making it a wonderful place to hike and camp.
Location
Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park is located in Amphoe Dan Sai in the Loei Province and Amphoe Nakhon Thai in the Phitsanulok Province. The attractions in this mountainous region are easily accessible because of the roads running
throughout the park.
Highlights
Lan Hin Taek: Lan Hin Taek is one of two fissures in the park. The surrounding area is covered by a multitude of plants and offers a stunning view of the surrounding area.
Lan Hin Poom: Lan Hin Poom is the second of the fissures in Phu Hin Rong Kla. This site is a wonderful place to watch the sunsets.
The Man Daeng Waterfall: To see the Man Daeng Waterfall, it is necessary to trek through the forest. This thirty-two level waterfall cascades over the rocks and down the hill, leaving all who visit with a sense of peace.
The Rom Klao and Pharadon Waterfalls: These twin waterfalls are located 700 meters from the National Park Office. These are both moderate-sized falls set amongst the forest.
Driving and Scenery: One of the more popular ways to see the park is by driving. While in your car, you can visit several remnants of the communists like their headquarters and the military school.
