Ob Luang Chiang Mai
Ob Luang is the name of the canyon created by the Mae Chaem River. Over the centuries, the Mae Chaem has slowly eroded the surrounding area giving birth to this majestic canyon. Ob Luang is located next to the road from Chiang Mai to Hod. Location
Ob Luang National Park is located in Amphoe Chom Thong, Amphoe Hod, and Amphoe Mae Chaem in the Chiang Mai Province. The forest here is lush, fertile, and holds evidence that prehistoric human inhabited this area.
Highlights Ob Luang : Ob Luang, also called the Great Canyon, can be seen from Highway 108 near kilometer marker 17. The cliff above is thirty meters high. The National Park Officers erected a bridge across the chasm so tourists can sightsee on both sides.
The Prehistoric Land: In the area around Ob Luang, archaeologists
have made many important finds linking prehistoric man to this region. Among the artifacts are stone hammers, pottery, jewelry, and other tools dating back to that era. The most important artifact is a human bone, which dates back 2,500-3,000 years before the enlightenment of the Buddha. The most popular prehistoric attraction is the ancient painting found on the East Side of Doi Pha Chang. From here, you also have an excellent view of the park.

From the town of Chiang Mai, take Highway 108 for eighty-eight kilometers to Hod. Then, turn right for seventeen kilometers to National Park Office. The total distance from Chiang Mai is 105 kilometers.
