The Koh Adang and Koh Rawi Satun
About forty kilometers west of Tarutao are the Koh Adang and Koh Rawi. Located far from the mainland, these two gems offer visitors serenity, fantastic beaches, scuba diving, and a glimpse into the lives of the island locals. Location
The Koh Adang and Koh Rawi are located sixty kilometers from the mainland near the Mu Koh Tarutao National Park. These two areas are actually comprised of several islands, which can be reached by boat and offer clean water for both swimming and scuba diving. At the end of the day you can retire for the evening at Koh Adang or Koh Li Pe. Highlights
KohAdang:The Mu Koh Tarutao National Park Ranger Unit is located in Koh Adang. Tourists can find accommodations shaded by pine trees and beaches suitable for swimming and camping. There are many restaurants, which serve food at reasonable prices. Opposite Koh Li Pe are long white sand beaches where you can bask under the midday sun. From the viewpoint, you can see Koh Li Pe surrounded by the deep blue sea.
Koh Li Pe: Koh Li Pe is where the majority of the local islanders live. In addition, there are many bungalows available for tourists. The western beach is the most charming and offers boat rentals for jaunts to the surrounding islands.
Koh Rawi: Koh Rawi is next to Koh Adang and is roughly the same size. This mountainous island has beaches, which disappear into the lush forests of the interior. While Koh Rawi does not offer the same accommodations as the other islands, it is still a wonderful place to explore and enjoy the scenery. The viewpoint at Koh Rong Kuai offers panoramic views of the island as well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Koh Hin Ngam: Koh Hin Ngam is small island, but in many ways is the most outstanding in the area. It is most famous for its beautiful round shaped stones, which lend to its name Hin Ngam (Beautiful Stone Island).
Koh Rong Kuai: Koh Rong Kuai is a little island with a cape and a wonderful beach. Nearby are Koh Dong and Koh Yang famous for its scuba diving. How to get there There are public boats departing daily from Pakbara to Tarutao and on to Li Pe (near Adang) during the touring season. The boat ride takes approximately four hours.
