The Huai Nam Dang National Park is located in Amphoe Mae Taeng, Amphoe Chiang Dao, and Amphoe Wiang Haeng in the Chiang Mai province and in Amphoe Pai in the Mae Hong Son Province. Most of the landscape is mountainous. The highest hill is Doi Chang, standing 1,926 meters above sea level. The National Park Office is in Amphoe Pai, in Mae Hong Son. Highlights Huai Nam Dang is often part of a trip to Mae Hong Son because you pass it on Highway 1095. Doi Kiew Lorn: Doi Kiew Lorn is where the National Park Office is located. Here, they have lodges to service tourists. From your lodge you can see many tiers of flowers growing at the base of the mountain.
Doi Chang: Doi Chang is twenty kilometers from Doi Kiew Lorn. In the early morning the valley fills with fog until the sun comes out to bum it off.
Doi Sam Muen: Doi Sam Muen is thirty kilometers from Doi Kiew Lorn. During the winter you can see the Bua Tong (sunflower) blooming. Doi Sam Muen means thirty kilograms. It got its name because travelers to this area had to carry that much rice with them to feed themselves. However, today the trip only takes about an hour. How to Get There From the town of Chiang Mai, take Highway 107 to Amphoe Mae Matai. Turn left onto Highway 1095. At kilometer marker sixty-five, turn left and drive to Huai Nam Dang National Park Office. The total distance is 112 kilometers.
