Beaches of Chanthaburi
When most people think of Chanthaburi, they imagine
the beautiful waterfalls and orchards. However,
during the summer, many people come to
visit the clean relaxing beaches that this
hidden gem has to offer.
Location The majority of the beaches in Chanthaburi
are found in Amphoe Tha Mai. Following
the beach is a road making the seaside
accessible from the East. This road is
well marked, enabling you to find your way around.
Highlights Had Chao Lao: Had Chao Lao has red sand and clean water. Here, you can swim and enjoy other water activities to your heart's content. The prices here are reasonable. Many visitors to the area rent long-tail boats from the local services to see the unspoiled coral offshore.
Had Laem Sadet: Laem is a Thai word meaning cape. As the name describes, Laem Sadet sits at the end of the cape. Along the road, you can see the red sand, and the plethora of accommodations offered. Several people in transit stop here at dusk to watch the sun set over the ocean.
Had Khung Krabain: Had Khung Krabain is located next to Laem Sadet. From the beach there is a wooden bridge that will take you into the mangrove forest to the east. Many amateur botanists enjoy exploring this area and learning about the local plants.
Had Khung Wiman: Had Khung Wiman is located in Amphoe Na Yai-am. This beach is not popular because of its sand, but rather for the winding coastal road that sweeps through the area. Considered the most picturesque road in the East, Khung Wiman makes driving a joy.
Koh Chula and Koh Nom Sao: These two small islands are the perfect place to go for picnics and diving. To get here, you can charter a boat from Had Krathing.
How to Get There
From the town of Chanthaburi, take Highway 3147 to Amphoe Tha Mai. Here, you will see road signs directing you to the beach. The total distance from Chanthaburi is forty kilometers.
