Now in its fourth year, the 2006 Bangkok International Film Festival (BKKIFF) is proud of our ever-growing popularity throughout the world of cinema. Over the years, we have worked hard to bring an exciting schedule of world-class films, informative workshops and symposiums, special tributes, the Bangkok Film Market (BFM) and, of course, the spectacular special events for which Thailand has become so well known to the viewing public.

Past festivals have featured award-winning films such as Lost in Translation , The Barbarian Invasions , Being Julia , Les Choristes , Born into Brothels , and The Motorcycle Diaries, to name a few. Our special guests over the years have included Jeremy Irons, Michael Douglas, Oliver Stone, Michelle Yeoh, Val Kilmer, Jackie Chan, Colin Farrell and Joel Schumacher as well as many others.

Our workshops and symposiums have included Film Financing hosted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Cinematographer's Day which highlights the world of cinematography culminating in a special award for the years' recipient.

An extremely important year for both the festival and Thailand, 2006 marks the 80 th birthday of his Royal Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej , and the 60-year anniversary of his accession to the throne, making him the longest-reigning monarch in the world. Therefore, in addition to the festival itself, special celebrations and events are sure to make your experience in Thailand even more memorable.
