Usually when people come to Chanthaburi they come to see the waterfalls, orchards and gardens. However, during the rainy season, when the river has a lot of water, rafting at Khlong Pong Nam Ron, because of its ease, attracts rafters of all ages and skill levels.
Location The Khao Soi Dao, Saphan Hin, and Peek Ka Mountain creeks merge and become Khlong Pong Nam Ron. The Khlong runs through Ban Laem and finally ends in Cambodia. Most rafting excursions take place in Amphoe Pong Nam Ron.

Highlights

The best time for rafting through Khlong Pong Nam Ron is between the months of June and November. During this time, there are few rapids and water runs at a leisurely pace making navigation possible for all skill levels of rafter. The distance is about ten kilometers and takes between two and three hours to complete. Because of the smooth currents and relatively short course, this is a perfect place for a family outing. Your trip will begin at the Wang Khon Chalet Resort. When you first start out, the water is calm, giving you a chance to get comfortable with your raft. As you proceed down the river, the current slowly picks up, giving you ample time to adapt to the new conditions. During your trip you will pass Kaeng Slider, Kaeng Roi Met, Kaeng Wang Khon, Kaeng Wang Yao, Kaeng Wang Katha, Kaeng Wang Won, Kaeng Nong Bon, and many others. The picturesque settings of these places and slow current make for a visually stunning experience. The Border Markets: After your rafting excursion, there is plenty of shopping available at the two border markets of Ban Phak Kad and Ban Laem. There are several interesting things to buy including goods from Cambodia and China.

How to Get There
From Chanthaburi, take Highway 317. Drive past Amphoe Makham toward Amphoe Pong Nam Ron. At Amphoe Pong Nam Ron, turn right on Highway 3191. Continue straight to Khlong Yai.
