Activities
According to the year of great significance for all Thai people, as we are commemorating the Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) proudly presents the project of “Thailand Grand Invitation”, to invite and welcome everyone around the world to visit Thailand and celebrate in the many celebrations and festivities as well as enjoy the beautiful sceneries of our nation.
One of the grand celebrations is the Chinese New Year; at the first night of waxing moon in the first lunar month, the special moment of all Chinese to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Bangkok

Activities : Enjoy the festivities free of charge!

1. The ceremonies on Sunday 29 January, 2006
* The Opening Ceremony of “Bangkok Chinese New Year 2006” at 8.30 hrs. (Presided over by Minister of Tourism and Sports)
* The Ceremony of blessing H.M. The King and bless to all Chinese in the New Year Celebration at 16.00 hrs. on the main stage.(Presided over by H.M. Prime Minister and the Representative of P.R. China’s Government)
* The Opening Ceremony of “Bangkok Chinese New Year 2006” at 17.00-18.00 hrs. (Presided over by HRH Sirindhorn)
2. Enjoy the wonderful evening in the Chinese ambience with the magnificent Chinese and Thai lanterns.
3. Experience many activities in China Town;
* Chinese and Thai lanterns
* Exhibition to celebrate H.M. the King
* Booth of signing to bless H.M. The King
- Enjoy the Year of Dog with the symbols of “Thongdaeng’s Family” and HRH Sirindhorn’s pet.
- Select and shop the products from Phufa Shop, Thai Red Cross Association’s Shop, experience the Sino-Thai Culture, exhibition of Thai textile, demonstration of Thai and Chinese Lantern as well as paper cut etc.
4. Entertainment on the 2 stages;
- Kung Fu Fighting
- Thai Martial Arts
- World Champion Lion Dance from P.R. China as well as dragon dance.
- Presentation of the magnificent Chinese costume in the Royal Court since the Qin Dynasty to the present as well as the graceful Thai costume.
- Enjoy the wonderful performances from The Fine Arts Department and the Traditional Performances from Xi’an, P.R. China.
5. Enjoy various delicious foods, cooked by chef from Shunde City.
6. Special event “Lucky Ni hao”, wear RED, pay homage to the 6 sacred places on Yaowarat Rd. (1 Temple and 5 Shrines and sacred places), get a coupon within 6 stamps and drop in a box on Yaowarat Rd. Draw Lots on Monday 30 January, 2006.
7. Enjoy walking on Yaowarat Rd. in the Chinese ambience.
